Are the Pirellis too hard?

It was Sergio Pérez who lit the first fuse concerning the Pirelli envelopes brought by the Italian manufacturer to the Catalan Montmelo track. The transalpines had decided to offer drivers hard tires (orange sidewall) and medium tires (white sidewall). A choice not necessarily to the taste of certain drivers including the Mexican from Force India. “The rubbers are very hard, explained the former resident of McLaren yesterday after the first two free practice sessions. It's difficult to use them. » Pérez also fears that the race will resemble a long procession.

Fernando Alonso, but also Jean-Eric Vergne have in turn highlighted the chronic lack of grip on the Catalan track. To which Paul Hembery, boss of Pirelli Motorsport, responded that the choice of tires remained satisfactory and that the brand had not been too conservative for this Spanish weekend.
