Trulli: Reach the middle of the grid

Jarno Trulli had a frustrating 2011 season. Undermined by his teammate Heikki Kovalainen, who performed well at the wheel of the T128, the Italian complained of problems with the steering of his car, even if he managed to score two 13th places (in Australia and Monaco) to secure tenth position in the Championship for the Malaysian team. At the end of the year, his steering wheel seemed threatened by Daniel Ricciardo before the Australian was established at Toro Rosso. The winner of the 2004 Monaco GP can now look towards 2012 with new ambitions.

“Things look very promising”, comments the Italian in La Repubblica. « Nous avons enfin le SREC qui nous manquait l’année dernière, ce sera une aide précieuse. Je me souviens que c’était déjà un problème lorsque je roulais pour Toyota. La structure technique sera également améliorée. De nouveaux ingénieurs arrivent et la venue de John Iley (directeur du pole performance) confirme les ambitions de l’équipe. Je ne veux pas dire que je vais gagner des courses mais l’ambition de quitter le groupe des nouveaux pour celui des équipes de milieu de tableau est légitime. Nous montrerons que nous sommes capables de marquer des points. »
