Equipped with a nice steering wheel, Yuki tsunoda (Alpha Tauri) has several times confused speed and precipitation.

Promoted to pilot Formula 1 at 20 years old (21 since last May 11), the Nippon has not yet been able to confirm all the expectations placed on him by Red Bull and made several errors which cost him dearly, such as his three exits, with great damage, in Q1 in Imola, Baku and in France.

To remedy, Yuki Tsunoda has moved to Italy, not far from AlphaTauri's bases in Faenza, to try to find the balance necessary to put yourself back upright. The first post-move race at Paul Ricard unfortunately ended with another off-track exit which forced him to leave the pits after changing his flat bottom and gearbox.

« Normally, I tend to push from the start in Q1 when I don't have to do so, he assures on the sidelines of the Styrian Grand Prix. There is no need to do this as our car consistently has a good pace. She still has the potential to reach Q3 but I have this tendency to attack from the start.

In the last three races, I made the same mistake twice by pushing too hard right out of the gate. Qualifying then ends immediately. You just need to be a little easier I would say, to have a different approach, to be more relaxed… That way, I will be confident from the first attempts.

We'll see if the approach works or not but I definitely need to change it. I don't want to make mistakes again but at the same time I want to push in qualifying to get the best possible result ».

To achieve this, Yuki Tsunoda could well take inspiration from his teammate Pierre Gasly, very consistent since the start of the year with 6 Q3s in 7 races, the results of which the Japanese are not unaware of.

« He has an intelligent way of approaching each session as I saw in France, recognizes Tsunoda. Between the third free practice session and qualifying, we made big changes to the settings. He was smarter in Q1 as he tried to feel the balance of the car and its differences instead of pushing ».
