Will a change of scenery allow Yuki tsunoda to get back on the right path? At least that's what I think Red Bull, which has supported the Japanese career since 2019.

Promoted to F1 this season with Alpha Tauri, the young man impressed in winter testing then during his first GP in Bahrain, finishing in a solid 9th place.

Since the hyping Tsunoda has faded somewhat, between punishing crashes and lackluster performances. Red Bull therefore decided to expatriate the Japanese driver to Italy to bring him closer to AlphaTauri and its main team Franz Tost. Until then, Tsunoda resided in Milton Keynes in the United Kingdom.

« I was told this in Monaco on Saturday, confirmed the person from Baku. When I had my accident in Free Practice 2, Red Bull was not happy. With AlphaTauri, we agreed that a change of scenery would be beneficial for me because the last 3-4 races had not been great. We had to do it differently.

So they made me move to Italy so that I could interact more often and easily with my engineers by going to the factory. It's a great decision ».

Tsunoda is all the more delighted as he himself had requested such an expatriation at the start of the season. At the end of the Monaco GP, the Japanese was able to have an excellent overview of his new life with a quasi-military program adjusted to the minute by the demanding Tost. And it starts with two hours of physical training from 09:00 a.m.

« I have never experienced this, it is a very hard session, he said again. After that, I have a meeting with my engineers, lunch, and English lessons because my command of the language is not yet perfect.

Between 15:00 p.m. and 16:30 p.m., another meeting with the engineers, then a new sports session from 16:30 p.m. to 18:00 p.m. It was Franz who planned all this ».

Tsunoda admitted with a smile that he had had a bit of a hard time, especially during the physical sessions, but he is already pleased with the benefits brought by this change of scenery.

« The discussions with the engineers are very useful to improve my understanding of the car, it's excellent preparation », added the AlphaTauri rookie.

A foodie and proud of it, Tsunoda also did not fail to highlight the culinary charms of his new adopted country. It must be said that Italian cuisine is something different from English food…
