It's an accident that would have gone well Alpha Tauri at Silverstone. On the 11th lap of the British Grand Prix, the two drivers from the Italian team followed each other in 7th and 8th places. Almost unexpected positions after a difficult start to the weekend. It was then that the fiery Yuki tsunoda attempted a daring overtake on Pierre Gasly, at turn 3. On the inside, the Japanese dived… and lost the rear of his car, then hit the Frenchman. The two AT03s spun off, both damaged.

In the fratricidal duel, both pilots were losers. After this aggressive attack, Tsunoda admitted his share of responsibility. “I think I could have waited for another opportunity to pass him. I also didn't expect Pierre to close the door as much as he did. My bad. Above all, I want to say that I am sorry for the team. » The No. 22 driver then experienced a solitary race to finish in 14th and last place among the classified. “After that I had some damage to the car, it was very tricky to drive and that made the rest of the race very difficult for me. »

“It was an unnecessary collision” with Tsunoda according to Gasly

After this collision, Pierre Gasly tried to chase again in the peloton. But his AlphaTauri was too damaged at the rear wing to continue. The Norman was obviously very disappointed after the race. “I was in seventh place, we were in a good position. After the incident with Yuki, the rear wing was damaged and we had to abandon the car. Every point is precious, especially in a season like this, so I'm disappointed with the final result today. It was an unnecessary collision. »

The Frenchman is not wrong: AlphaTauri carried out the wrong operation in the manufacturer's championship. With 27 points, the Italian team's 7th place is now threatened by Haas (20 points) and by Aston Martin (18 points).
