For the second weekend in a row, McLaren scored only one point, thanks to 10th place in Lando Norris. A very bad operation for the team based in Woking in its fight for third place in the Constructors' championship with Ferrari. Especially since the Team widens the gap and is 31,5 points ahead thanks to 5th place in Charles Leclerc and 6th place in Carlos Sainz. However, the British team could hope for better with Lando Norris placed in 5th position on the starting grid. But contact with his former Spanish teammate caused a puncture, relegating him to 20th place and forcing him to move up the entire peloton.

“We could have scored some good points, regrets the one who celebrated his 22nd birthday this Saturday. It's a disappointing Grand Prix for the team and for myself. I got off to a great start and as I tried to get back on the track, there just wasn't enough room and I ended up puncturing. We scored a point, it’s better than nothing.”

Daniel Ricciardo, surrounded by several world champions on the starting grid, failed to escape from the peloton and was even forced to retire on the 52nd lap due to a loss of engine power. The winner of the Monza Grand Prix, after a 12th place in Mexico, is enjoying the start of triple headers difficult, like his stable.

“I had a loss of engine power and I had to abandon,” notes the Australian. I had some great battles with gasly and also the Ferraris. They had a little more pace but maybe thanks to our strategy we could have disrupted them, it's a shame »

The two drivers are unanimous, the round in Qatar scheduled for this Sunday should allow the team to bounce back. If the fight between Max Verstappen et Lewis Hamilton attracts all the attention, the one between Ferrari and McLaren also promises to spark.
