A big challenge for Honda at home

Honda will present itself this Friday at Suzuka in Japan with very measured ambitions. Back in F1 this year, by reforming the legendary duo from the end of the 80s with the stable McLaren, the Japanese firm remains in difficulty since the start of the championship.

“Suzuka is a circuit known for being technical and difficult for all cars and drivers. We have to be realistic: the race will be a big challenge. » confesses Yasuhisa Arai, Honda Motorsport Manager. A challenge that Fernando Alonso is ready to face, while recognizing the challenge offered by the Japanese circuit.

“Singapore is now behind us, but Suzuka will not be easy. Our car is well balanced, there are good sensations behind the wheel, but on a circuit with a high average speed, it will be difficult to beat our competitors. We will take the “spirit of the samurai” with us to Suzuka, and as usual we will not give up. » indicates the double world champion.

The weekend could also see McLaren in the spotlight off the track, as Jenson Button could announce his retirement before the Grand Prix, as The Telegraph recently reported. The Briton will also be present at the drivers' press conference tomorrow.
