A new podium for Kubica

?We achieved a very good result today and this concludes a weekend during which we were competitive at the end of each run. We were able to rub shoulders with McLaren and Red Bull, a situation that no one expected before arriving here. So I think we can be proud of our work,” analyzes the Pole.

“The conditions were very difficult at the start because the track was wet before and after the intervention of the safety car. I was fourth when Button and Hag collided, and I think I was faster than Jenson at that point in the race. When the track was clear, I was able to push to the limit and the car felt really good. Webber stopped before me to put on the "prime" tires, but the mechanics did a good job of allowing me to pass in front of him? even if it was very tight at the top of Eau Rouge! I was able to maintain my position, however, and escape a little. When the rain fell again the circuit was extremely slippery, but I was closing in on Lewis when he chose to stop. I also dove towards the pit lane and decided to be very careful. However, I needed to change a few settings while driving. I was a little distracted while carrying out this operation and it was my fault: when I looked ahead, I had passed the braking point, I locked the front wheels and I hit a few mechanics. Fortunately, no one got hurt. It cost me a place, but it was a race in which it was easy to make mistakes. We can therefore be satisfied with having maintained the position we had on the grid, and having been fast in all conditions. »

Robert Kubica is now seventh in the Championship thanks to this third podium.
