A podium that does Ricciardo good

Daniel Ricciardo had not been on the podium since the Monaco Grand Prix last May. The pilot Red Bull ended the drought by taking third place behind the Mercedes de Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, thus securing his third top three in a row at the Hungaroring.

“I'm very happy with this podium, I don't think we could have won, recognizes the Australian. We tried at first. After a good start, I had the Mercedes in my sights and I thought I could take the lead, but I was overtaken by Lewis (Hamilton) and then by Nico (Rosberg) at the exit of turn 2. Even if I had taken the lead, their pace was so strong that they could have regained the advantage by staying one more lap on the track. »

Daniel Ricciardo anticipated his second stop to take the advantage over Sebastian Vettel and took advantage of the nature of the Budapest track, not very conducive to overtaking, to maintain the advantage over the driver Ferrari despite more worn tires.

“It was the best result within our reach. Seb (Vettel) was very close during the last three laps and my tires were at the end of their life, underlines the Red Bull driver. With three podiums in a row, it's a good meeting for me. Testing has generally gone well for me since the start of the season, but for some unknown reason I was less satisfied in the race. It was important to completely succeed on the weekend and I think I achieved that. I will have another opportunity to rejoice in seven days (with the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim). »
