A point for Cosworth in Bahrain

Returning to the premier discipline of motorsport by powering four teams, therefore eight single-seaters, is not an easy thing. But the tenth place obtained by Rubens Barrichello motivated everyone, and allowed the engine manufacturer not to return empty-handed from Bahrain.

“After several months spent setting up our return to Formula 1 as an engine manufacturer, it was pleasant to return to competition, said Mark Gallagher, Managing Director of the F1 unit. It was nice to see our four teams in action. From a performance point of view, I think we can be satisfied with the competitiveness of CA2010 in Bahrain. The two pilots Williams saw the finish and Rubens even managed to collect the point for 10th place, while Lotus covered many kilometers, managing to bring its cars to the end, classified as well. I was also able to speak with several drivers who gave us very encouraging feedback regarding the engine.

But unlike the Williams and Lotus teams, Virgin and HRT have had a difficult start to say the least, which does not seem to alarm Gallagher:

“Both teams worked a lot and progressed well. There are a lot of positive things to take away from this first race for Virgin, especially qualifying. As for HRT, their mere presence is already a feat. Bruno Senna had to give up due to a leak in the radiator. His engine returned to us. »

For a first Grand Prix the results are rather positive. It now remains to be confirmed next week in Australia, hoping that Virgin and HRT have managed to resolve some small teething problems.
