A “shakedown” cut short at Racing Point F1

With 30 laps covered, the first day 2019 of Racing Point F1 will not have been as productive as hoped. The first ride of the car RP19 will have been somewhat disrupted by mechanical problems, but nothing likely to worry Lawrence's troops Stroll.

" Today, this was clearly our shakedown and the first opportunity to check the installation of all new parts and various systems, analyzes Tom McCullough, performance director.

We had a few minor issues, which caused downtime all day, as well as a small oil leak, but nothing to worry about. Sergio was very optimistic about the initial feeling with the car and the basic settings, which makes it a very encouraging feedback. »

« The conditions weren't great: the track was quite cold and green at the start, but I finished the first day with a positive feeling, adds Pérez. It was important to start understanding the car as much as we could, so I felt comfortable as a driver. »

Racing Point F1 did not carry out an authorized filming day as a preamble to these winter tests, unlike Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull, Renault or even Toro Rosso et Alfa Romeo Racing, who all took advantage of a session of 100 km maximum to check the initial functioning of their latest addition.
