A very drunken show for Renault in Nice

While France will celebrate the return of the F1 with the French Grand Prix organized on the Paul-Ricard track in Var, initiatives in the South-East region are multiplying before the big summer meeting.

Before an upcoming F1 Live which must be organized in Marseille (Bouches du Rhône) on the sidelines of the French event, on the same model as the show organized last year in London in England, Nice hosted a demonstration this weekend with two single-seaters in the history of Renault Sports F1 Team.

The RE40 from 1983, entrusted to Alain Prost, and the 1 Renault F2012, driven by Nico Hulkenberg, thus evolved on the soggy Promenade des Anglais in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes). Despite the unfavorable conditions, the public responded to this event.

“It was great to be here in Nice, very close to the Circuit Paul Ricard which will soon host the French Grand Prix, explains the four-time French world champion. The initiative comes from Christian Estrosi, who is at the same time the Mayor of Nice, the President of the GIP Grand Prix de France and the architect of the return of F1 to his region.

It was a beautiful symbol to bring out the RE40 and the E20 from 2012. The union of old and modern single-seaters illustrates the return of the French GP to the calendar after ten years of absence. The only negative point concerns the weather, but the event still brought together a lot of people. I hope it will be the same in June, during the Grand Prix. »

“It’s incredible to be able to drive on the Promenade des Anglais behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car, admits Hülkenberg for his part. The sound was legendary. It’s a really famous place on the French Riviera and it’s not something you can do every day…”
