In the long list of elements aiming to be subject to standardization by 2021, which will see a large upheaval of the technical regulations in F1, the FIA seems to want to add a tire pressure monitoring system.
Launched for the 2021, 2022 and 2023 seasons, the call for tenders must result in the provision of a prototype by November 15 so that Pirelli can use the system during development tests for the 2021 tires.
A season which will notably see the introduction of a new size of rims (18″), rims which could also be standardized, together with elements of the braking system.
The said tire pressure monitoring system will include a sensor on the rim, a data transmission system (antenna, electronic control unit) and data reception elements (including a box intended for the FIA).
Note that the contract could be extended to the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
