An important job for Ferrari

After a year without a victory in 2014, Team Principal Maurizio Arrivabene announced that the Team Ferrari was hoping for two wins this season. The Italian team will rely on a SF15-BILLION which has evolved in multiple areas.

“We tried to ensure that the weaknesses that we considered particularly visible on the 2014 car were erased on the SF15-T,
Explain Technical Director James Allison. The rear of the car is noticeably different from the F14 T.”

The in-house Power Unit was also a primary area of work during the off-season. “We had a number of problems with the Power Unit last year. From the start of the season, the way the power was delivered wasn't particularly sophisticated and it was difficult for drivers to get the throttle response they wanted. This improved over the course of the season and we went a step further for the SF15-T. Another significant weakness of last year's car was that the amount of electrical energy we were able to harvest from the turbo was not enough to produce competitive power levels during the race. This is an area where we have tried to modify the engine architecture to find a better compromise between qualifying and race performance. »

James Allison also specifies that the pure power of the engine was one of the major projects for Scuderia Ferrari. The SF15-T will be on track this Sunday in Spain at Jerez, for the first winter tests.
