The harvest was very bad for Sebastian Vettel, in the Styrian mountains. Despite his “bee” helmet, the German was unable to sting his opponents to score points. Worse still, the pilot Aston Martin was hit twice during the two races held at Spielberg. A first contact on Saturday during the Sprint race, with Alexander albon at turn 5, forced the four-time world champion to start from 18th place. Then a second contact on Sunday with Pierre Gasly definitely destroyed Vettel's chances of a top 10.

An Austrian weekend to forget for the German, very disappointed after the Grand Prix. “It’s obviously disappointing. I had a piece of the car in front land on my front wing on the first lap. I don't know if it really damaged the car. After that we were pretty slow. With the medium tires it was better, we moved up in the peloton. Then Pierre was, I think, a little too enthusiastic (…) after that, my race was pretty much over. »

“I had the impression that there was a target on my car” assures Vettel

Very angry on the radio following his clash with Gasly, Sebastian Vettel did not hold back his words. “Could I have a race without these clowns? » had let go of the ex-pilot Ferrari in the middle of the race, before returning more calmly to his comments after the event. “It's disappointing to be pushed into the gravel again. This time it was Gasly and I almost felt like there was a target on my car. »

More generally, Vettel pointed out the lack of performance of his AMR22, which was in difficulty on Friday with a double elimination of the Aston Martins in Q1. Despite a slight recovery in form in the second part of the race, contact with Gasly caused some damage on the car British. “After that the car was no longer in good condition, we just finished the race at the back of the field. I think we had a pretty unlucky weekend, so let's turn the page and focus on the next race in France. »
