A weekend to forget for Giovinazzi

Antonio Giovinazzi had a trying weekend at the Chinese GP with two crashes in two days. If the Sauber driver made a promising debut last month in Melbourne (Australia), the Italian complicated the weekend for the Swiss team by destroying the C36 twice where he replaced Pascal Wehrlein.

“First of all, I would like to apologize to the team., commented Antonio Giovinazzi. They did a superb job getting the car ready in time for the race. It was unfortunate to have another accident today. It will be a good lesson. I now want to quickly forget this weekend. »

Starting from the back of the grid after a gearbox change, Antonio Giovinazzi was behind the entry of the safety car which shook up the race in Shanghai.

“It wasn’t our day, said Sauber Team Principal Monisha Kaltenborn F1 team. This is especially the case with Antonio, but we are happy that he is okay after his accident. The conditions were difficult, even more so without having experience. »

Antonio Giovinazzi could still replace Pascal Wehrlein during the Bahrain GP played next weekend on the Sakhir circuit.
