A year of learning for Antonio Giovinazzi

Since 2011, our Italian neighbors no longer have a representative in the Grand Prix. Thus, the announcement of the arrival of 2 GP2016 vice-champion Antonio Giovinazzi as third driver of the Team Ferrari is raising serious hopes on the other side of the Alps.

For his debut in red, Giovinazzi aims above all to familiarize himself in a new environment alongside the world champions Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen.

“I have no experience of F1, Giovinazzi recently confessed in the Gazzetta dello Sport. But, from what I saw when trying the simulator, it is difficult, and very different from GP2. This year I learned how to manage the tires and I think that will help me.

For the rest, it's a completely different car, very complex. So I want to be operational from the end of January, present at the factory, to understand as many steps as possible, starting with the procedures. »

If the Italian's 2017 season will take place mainly outside the seat (testing presences remain possible) Giovinazzi intends to quickly get back behind the wheel, “with the hope of being on the track in 2018.”
