A “good day” for Red Bull

Red Bull Racing started 2015 in a better way than 2014. Last year, the RB10 powered by the V6 turbo / hybrid Renault had a very tricky start to winter testing in Jerez. If a few small problems disrupted the progress of Sunday, the Milton Keynes team nevertheless remains satisfied.

“It is no exaggeration to say that today was a good day for the team and for the RB11, explains the French Guillaume Rochelin, responsible for racing engineering. The preparation of the car was good, the flow of the day was largely excellent and we have already gathered a lot of information. The day generally went according to plan, starting cautiously, building on the long stints and learning every moment. We had a small problem with the brake control system around midday, but you always have small inconveniences on a day like this. We stopped late in the afternoon with a technical problem, but it wasn't too serious. An alarm went off on the engine, and at this point in the day, knowing the investigation would take time, we chose to call it quits. Other than that, everything went pretty much as we hoped. »

An opinion shared by Daniel Ricciardo, author of the fourth time this Sunday in 1'23″338, with 35 laps on the clock. “First impressions are good, admits the 25-year-old Australian. We'll have a few more rounds over the next few days, but so far everything looks pretty encouraging. I can feel a step forward. I'm not going to go into too much detail, but it does. We didn't do many laps, but certainly more than at the same time last year. Obviously we had some problems, but once the car is on track everything works normally. It's a good first day, there are positive signs. »

Daniil Kvyat will take over at the wheel of the RB11 tomorrow in Andalusia. The photos of the car are available here.
