Obviously McLaren likes to celebrate its motorsport history. On Sunday May 28, 2023, Arrow McLaren's four single-seaters will compete in the Indianapolis 500 with four liveries recalling the manufacturer's victories at Indy, the Monaco Grand Prix and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. But the same day, in the Principality, Oscar piastri et Lando Norris will also have a special decoration!

Indeed, their MCL60 will be adorned with a tricolor livery, black, white and papaya orange, instead of the usual decoration.

Papaya elements from McLaren's first M16C/D that won the Indy 500 with Johnny Rutherford in 1974 cover the rear of the car before encountering a white center taken from the MP4/2 ofAlain Prost having won the Monaco Grand Prix in the pouring rain in 1984. The front of the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix car is black in homage to the F1 GTR which won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in McLaren's first attempt, with Yannick Dalmas, JJ Lehto and Masanori Sekiya.

As a bonus, spectators present at the Spanish Grand Prix will have the chance to see this livery in action, before the usual decoration returns during the following Grand Prix.

“McLaren has an impressive track record in Monte Carlo (14 victories since 1984. Editor’s note) and, from a personal point of view, getting on the podium at the 2021 race was a huge honor, said Lando Norris. We will race hard in a beautiful car to celebrate Bruce McLaren and the team's incredible legacy. »

His Australian teammate Oscar Piastri was amazed to be there! “The Triple Crown livery is incredible and I can’t imagine a better way to experience my first Monaco Grand Prix as a Formula 1 driver with McLaren Racing.

Bruce McLaren won at Monte Carlo in 1962 and the McLaren team has a very rich history at the Monaco Grand Prix. I will be incredibly proud to line up on the starting grid in the MCL60, which carries the same colors as the three victorious Triple Crown racing cars. »
