Max Verstappen won the last Grand Prix of the year. Thanks to the safety car, the Dutchman was able to use soft tires which allowed him to overtake Lewis Hamilton in the last lap. The Briton had worn hard tires and could do nothing to prevent his rival's victory. A final classic clash which divides the European media.

In the Netherlands, the newspaper Algemeen Dagblad recalls “a performance for eternity” calling Jos Verstappen's son a " phenomenon ", while the most important daily newspaper in the country, The Telegraph, emphasizes that the Dutch pilot has “writes the history of Formula 1 ». In Belgium, native country of the new world champion, Le Soir title on the“apotheosis in the last lap”.

In the United Kingdom, the tone used by the media is not exactly the same. The Daily Telegraph does not hide and evokes a " flight " in reference to the decisions taken by the stewards in the final moments of the race. An expression taken up by The Daily Mail who talks about “great theft of motorsport”. The Sun recalls “a final dramatic turn » et The Daily Express went there with his play on words “Max Pain” that we can translate by “the enormous pain”.

In other European media, the spectacle offered by the two pilots is unanimous. Daily life The Team evokes a “last round of anthology”. Same story in Italy where the Gazzetta dello Sport speaks of a “Crazy GP”. Finally in Spain, the newspaper As qualifies Verstappen as “a king of madness”.

A new president of the FIA will soon be elected: will he be able to ensure that F1 is less sensitive to hard dollars because as some drivers say, the end of the race with contradictory decisions has been decided for the television? It was time to write clear rules, applicable to everyone, whether they are a rookie or an experienced driver! What's the point of laying down rules knowing that the Race Director can override them according to rather nebulous criteria! If Masi wants to return to his island continent, it is likely that some will not regret it.

In the end, the 2 drivers were decided in this last GP and in fact, Verstappen signed pole, victory and lap record. Mercedes only had to make Hamilton stop to change tires like Redbul, it's a strategic error that costs a lot, that's all!

Congratulations to Lewis and Max for their season, but it is a shame for the FIA to violate its own rules and change its interpretation at once. “Let them race” is a pass everywhere to justify anything? Both deserve the title, but in this race, there is no photo. If the FIA still has a little honor, (which I doubt) it will award the title to the 2. And above all it will review its decision-making procedures.
