In the streets of Singapore, Max Verstappen had a relatively calm first day. If during the first free practice session he was able to stand out before Lewis Hamilton didn't steal the show less than 5 minutes from the checkerboard, the Dutchman had to be patient during the second where he spent a lot of time in the garage.

Deprived of driving during a large part of free practice 2, Max Verstappen was able to take to the track at the end of the session where he completed 8 laps, barely finishing more than 3 tenths behind. Carlos Sainz, author of the best time. Despite this slow first day, the reigning world champion was not worried about the rest of the weekend.

« Everything started well during FP1, I think the car was doing pretty well, he advanced. For 2e free practice session, we wanted to try new things but in the end it took a little longer than expected to change everything. Then we wanted to try another setting so it took us some time. We weren't able to drive much so I don't think what we showed during FP2 was representative. »
