A first model of future F1 presented

A first model representing what the F1 in 2021 saw the light of day last month. On the sidelines of the German GP, wind tunnel tests took place at the Sauber factory in order to validate the first studies carried out by computer. The F1 website published a video and photos of these tests where the model offers a glimpse of what the next generation of single-seaters could be.

Certain parts of this model should be definitive, like the 18-inch rims, the rear wing or the air intakes. The front wing, however, should evolve.

“Our wind tunnel tests are slightly different from those that the teams can carry out, indicated F1 technical director Pat Symonds. The teams only focus on the forces exerted on the car... Even if we are obviously interested in it, we mainly observe the turbulence created at the rear of the car. »

The objective of the future regulation is to obtain less aero drag in order to facilitate overtaking by allowing pilots to follow each other without suffering disturbances.
