It's not the outcome he was hoping for but Pierre Gasly must settle for 14th place on the grid for the Spanish Grand Prix. The Norman continues to have a series of poor performances after his abandonment in Miami. The day started badly for the pilot Alpha Tauri this Saturday in Barcelona. He was unable to set any times during the third free practice session due to a problem with the rear of his car. So with less information and data than the other competitors, Pierre Gasly finished his qualifying session in Q2 after narrowly moving into the top 15 during Q1.

« This morning I was disappointed not to be able to do FP3. We had a problem at the rear of the car, they had to remove the gearbox and we couldn't do the session. So we had a lot of things to try and unfortunately it didn't turn out the way we had hoped. » explains the Frenchman at the microphone of Canal +.

On a route he knows by heart, Pierre Gasly had nevertheless ticked the box of Q3 as an objective. In Spain, everything did not go as planned and the AlphaTauri driver was not comfortable on the track. “ All weekend we had difficulty on this track, it's true that since yesterday we have been trying to find solutions, I was sliding a lot and we had zero traction. So we tried something for the qualification to see if it worked better. Unfortunately, it didn't. »

Take advantage of racing opportunities

All hopes are not buried for Pierre Gasly who will start tomorrow just behind his teammate Yuki tsunoda (13th). “ For tomorrow, this is the car we have and we are going to fight with these weapons. This is going to be a very long race with a lot of damage so we will try to seize the opportunities that present themselves to us. » Will Pierre Gasly and the engineers succeed in curing the AT03's ills for the start of the Grand Prix? Response tomorrow at 15:00 p.m.
