A difficult victory for Alonso

Fernando Alonso wins for the second consecutive time on the Hockenheim circuit after the last visit of the F1 in 2010. The pilot of the Team becomes the first driver of the season to achieve three victories in ten events contested and benefits from the poor performance of Mark Webber (Red Bull), only eighth, to increase his lead in the Championship with 34 points more than the Australian. If the Spaniard had won pole, the double world champion had to resist heavy pressure from Jenson Button (McLaren) and Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull) during the last stint.

The victory is all the more beautiful for the Asturian who believes he did not have the car the most competitive on the field this weekend. “It was difficult, the race was not easy and we were perhaps not the fastest in the dry”, comments the winner who is celebrating his 30th success in F1. “We were still competitive, enough to stay in the lead. The team called me back to the pits at the right times, we had to react when Jenson Button stopped. I knew the race was going to be long with Jenson putting pressure on me with 27 laps to go. The car had good traction and a good top speed which allowed me to keep the advantage into turn 6. We can no longer overtake after this turn and I was therefore content to keep my tires. The Pirellis reacted well, we were able to make our two planned stops. The degradation was not too significant and we had no surprises. »
