Vasselon deciphers Singapore

Pascal, what are the characteristics of the Singapore circuit?

It is a route that requires significant downforce where steering plays a crucial role. There are many turns, 23 in total, and it is very important to find the right rhythm. Typically on a street circuit, drivers must be as close as possible to the barriers without touching them and this is very demanding in terms of concentration. (?) The other factor to consider is that Singapore is very demanding on brakes.

Tell us about the bumps on the route?

Last year it was extremely bumpy. The adjustments therefore focused mainly on the development of the suspensions throughout the weekend. So we had to use special suspension settings and I think we weren't the only team to experience these types of problems. The organizers told us that they had taken the comments into account and had carried out a resurfacing. I hope this helped reduce the bumps; we will see this on Friday during free practice.

Is there a part of the track that stood out to you?

There are several interesting curves but the one I particularly remember is number 10; the chicane with the high vibrators. This is a type of corner that we are not used to taking which is very slow but extremely tricky because if you hit the curbs, the car takes off and you can end up in the wall. The drivers certainly have to stay very focused here.

Are you going to bring new pieces to the car for the Singapore Grand Prix?

We will bring new car news to Singapore. This will be the last package of the season on the TF109. We focused on improving the performance of the car and we found some improvements in several areas. We will thus have something new for the front wing as well as the rear. We will have two more new features on the car after Singapore and that will be it for this season.
