Vasselon wants to see Toyota at the forefront

Pascal, Silverstone is a speed circuit, what do you think?

Yes, it's true. However, there is a certain paradox at Silverstone because it is a circuit which requires good aerodynamic downforce. The average speed is high but there are a lot of turns, even if they are very fast turns. It?s not like Monza which has long straight lines. Here, having a good top speed does not automatically mean that you will achieve good lap times.

We are coming to the end of the first half of the season. From a technical point of view, did everything go as you hoped?

We are more or less at the level we thought we would be; in the top 3. We have had a good start to the season and we are fighting at the front. We have been on the podium three times and are in third place in the constructors' championship. It's very promising and we are clearly in the right direction but we have even higher objectives for this season. We are not satisfied. Even though we are in the top 3 in terms of performance, we are still missing a little something to systematically fight for victory. This is our goal and we are working hard to close the gap.

Lorsque l?on regarde la TF109 de manière générale, êtes-vous satisfaits de la direction que Toyota a prise ?

Our performance during winter testing and the start of the season demonstrated that we had taken the right direction with the TF109. We didn't need to rework our original concept, and although we did need to work after Monaco to find a solution, I would say there are no fundamental problems with the car. I have no regrets about the way we developed the car. Our challenge now is to extract the most performance from this package by improving its efficiency.
