Vasseur: “The reward is finally here”

Alfa Romeo did not imagine finishing so well ranked at the Brazilian GP. By placing its two cars at the foot of the podium, the team was the second best placed team behind Red Bulle, scoring only 3 points than the first Taureau Rouge team.

“We can be really happy and proud of this result, commented Frédéric Vasseur. The reward for the team's hard work is finally here, that of placing both cars at the foot of the podium. We didn't want to lower our heads in the races where we lacked success and we can now celebrate the best result of the season. »

“There was no decisive factor because everyone worked well: whether behind the wheel, during stops, on the wall or in the factory. We've made notable progress over the last few races, but it's only seen from here. We now have the chance to have another great race in Abu Dhabi and finish the season on a good note. »

Kimi Räikkönen was also happy with the result. The Finn even thought for a moment that he would regain the last step of the podium when Carlos Sainz Jr. (McLaren) was under investigation.

“We finally got the result we fought for. I'm disappointed not to have managed to overtake Sainz for what was going to be the last step of the podium, admitted the 2007 world champion. We had the speed and I had two chances without being able to take the advantage. But we always want more and it's still a good thing to have both cars bringing home so many points. »

Alfa Romeo remains in 8th place in the championship, moving back to 10 points behind Racing Point before the final in Abu Dhabi.
