The Drivers' title is certainly being played out from Las Vegas, but the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will not lack interest. This last meeting of the 2024 season will notably be the scene of the final fight between McLaren and Ferrari for the Constructors' title. The Team has made up some of its deficit on the Woking team in Qatar by returning to 21 points before this final event of the year. Ferrari could also clinch the honorary place of vice-champion in the Drivers' category with Charles Leclerc returned to eight small units of Lando Norris.

« I'd rather be 20 points ahead than 20 points behind, launched Frédéric Vasseur after Qatar. On paper, the next stage will probably be a little bit better for us too. We will fight until the last corner of the last lap. »

« It's not about pressure, it's about doing a good job and being fast, and then we'll see, continues the Team Principal of Scuderia Ferrari. We managed to do a double on some weekends during the season, we will try to do the same, mais Even if we do, they can still be champions. The most important thing is to focus on ourselves, not to start thinking about what others are doing and so on, because then we lose the rhythm of the weekend a little bit."

Vasseur remains cautious about Abu Dhabi. It's true that on paper, for different reasons, the temperature or the track configuration, we are probably in better shape, but it's not always true, did he declare. It’s mainly about tyre management, because the gap between the cars is so small that tyre management takes precedence over the race, and we will have to do a good job. It’s not certain that we will be in good shape next week. We will have to do the work, we will have to put everything in place. It’s always a challenge, but we will go to Abu Dhabi with a huge motivation. »

If Ferrari wins the title in extremis, I will be a little disappointed because at no time has the team been in a consistent dominant position, and above all it is Verstappen who offered them very big points on a plateau in Austin and Mexico, with his more than questionable "strategy" which made his own team lose 2nd place. Afterwards, if McLaren loses this title, they will especially have to blame themselves given the number of errors accumulated...

In his battle for the Constructors' title, it's a shame to take away driving time from Carlos Sainz in FP1 for not having kept his rookie driving commitments before the last Grand Prix of the season!
