The summer break is an opportunity to make the first assessments in Formula 1 and among the most “mixed”, that of Ferrari serves as an example. The Italian team started the season ideally with two victories, including a prestigious one in Monaco with Charles Leclerc. In the streets of the Principality, the Monegasque finally realized his dream of winning at home, at the end of a weekend where the Team appeared to be dominant.

Alas, the idyll did not last long: the rest of the championship was much more difficult for Ferrari and Charles Leclerc with only 39 points scored over the last six rounds and a podium obtained in Belgium following the disqualification of George Russell at Spa. The return to earth was brutal for the Reds, who suffered in the development of the SF-24. The new features brought by the Scuderia were not effective, notably with the return of rebounds on the car Italian. Faced with McLaren and Mercedes faster and faster, Ferrari seems to have fallen in the hierarchy after Monaco.

Leclerc has a level of expectation “a little higher”

Frédéric Vasseur, principal director of Scuderia Ferrari, spoke about this laborious passage in an interview given to the official website of Formula 1. “It’s not just for Charles [Leclerc], it’s also difficult for the team. After Monaco, we went through a difficult streak. In Canada, we were in bad shape. What is clear is that the car is a little more difficult to drive in recent meetings and that Charles' level of expectation is also a little higher., recognizes the French leader.

“It’s the life of a team, there are ups and downs, he emphasizes. We have ongoing discussions with Charles. He knows the situation on our side, what we're doing right and what we've done wrong, and he knows he's made mistakes sometimes, but we're not in a situation where we're trying to shift the blame to someone. 'A. We've worked together for years, we know each other inside and out, we know we push each other, we know we need to work things out. We are absolutely not in the position of pointing fingers. This is also where it’s good to have a personal relationship. »

After backtracking on various adjustments and developments, Ferrari seems to have resumed its march forward. The latest results in Hungary and Belgium show that the Italian team is once again in the game to play for the podium. Has the Scuderia finally found the right recipe with its evolved SF-24? This return to form will have to be confirmed at the start of the school year, during the Dutch Grand Prix on August 25.
