Vergne motivated by pressure from Red Bull

Jean-Eric Vergne will take the wheel of the STR7 for the first time this Thursday in Jerez. The Frenchman will play his first season in F1 next to Daniel Ricciardo, another pilot of the program Red Bull who already has the experience of several Grands Prix under his helmet. “A driver must know the difference and bring the car back in one piece.”, underlines the Frenchman. “In a team with such a large staff, it inevitably gives a little more pressure But I like it, it’s what pushes me forward. Being Daniel's teammate will also help me. He is a very good driver and he will be a good benchmark for me even if I will do my best to be better than him. »

The champion of F3 British 2010 is aware that above all he will have to gain experience and that his results will largely depend on the performance of the new STR7. “I have been working with Red Bull for the last five years and my Friday testing with Toro Rosso had to help me convince them that I deserved to be in the car. I will have to confirm this, I have a lot to learn and I need to gain as much experience as possible. It will be hard but I can't wait to get started. It would be good to finish regularly in the points but first we have to evaluate our car against the competitors. The team did a fantastic job last year and I hope we can do even better this season. »
