Vergne perplexed by the potential of his Toro Rosso

Toro Rosso seems to have progressed since the Malaysian Grand Prix. Daniel Ricciardo highlighted himself during qualifying by taking seventh place on the starting grid ahead of world champions Jenson Button and Sebastian Vettel. However, the session did not go as well for his teammate Jean-Eric Vergne who had to settle for 16th position after having difficulty at the wheel of his mount. “It’s a disappointment, yes and no… I couldn’t do better with the car I have”, recognized the Frenchman on Canal+ Sport. “Since yesterday, weird things have been happening with it. (Daniel Ricciardo) is in Q3 so that means she must be working properly. I'm not disappointed that Ricciardo is in Q3 and not me, it's good for the team and we don't know what will happen tomorrow. »

“There are going to be plenty of opportunities to do something in the race”, still positive JEV. “The situation with the tires is rather complicated and we will see how to get out of it best because having the right strategy tomorrow will be a major factor”, he continued. Even if he is far on the grid, the Frenchman affirms it: “The car has really improved compared to the first two races.”
