Vergne wanted to do better than a top ten

Jean-Eric Vergne had a great Malaysian Grand Prix, finishing tenth in the race after starting from 17th position on the grid. The Frenchman constantly fought for points, but his hopes of a result took a hit when the driver Toro Rosso was restarted too early after his pit stop, colliding with the Caterham of Charles Pic. The race management imposed a fine on the Faenza team but the French driver was able to keep his point.

The results of the weekend seem satisfactory for Jean-Eric Vergne but the Toro Rosso driver remains frustrated by his incident, without which he could have hoped to finish in a better position. “It’s good to finish in the points but it’s a shame to have lost so much time in the pits because of this mistake because I could have done something better”, declared the Frenchman after the Malaysian Grand Prix. “So I feel quite frustrated but I’m still happy to accept that. After these first two races, we now have a short break before resuming competition (three-week break before the Chinese Grand Prix) and we must use this time to evaluate our performance and identify areas for improvement because we have no doubt doubts any room for improvement after missing opportunities in both races. The positive point is that I then had a very good pace in the race and I was able to regain many positions. »
