Towards the return from Hockenheim

Organized alternating between the Nurburgring and Hockenheim, the Grand Prix of Formula 1 from Germany could continue his alternation. A few days ago, the city of Hockenheim, which owns 94% of the circuit, voted unanimously against holding the German Grand Prix in 2010. However, the Nurburgring has already indicated that? it could not bear the organizational costs from year to year. For the maintenance of the German GP every year, only one solution is possible, that of alternation.

After the interview between Karl-Josef Schmidt, boss of the Hockenheim circuit, and Bernie Ecclestone, it seems that the return of a Formula 1 Grand Prix on this circuit is possible. Schmidt said he was "confident" that the 2010 GP would take place as planned, adding that Ecclestone was determined to keep the German event on the calendar.

But the obstacles are numerous. In 2009, the GP at Hockenheim presented a deficit of 6 million euros. The drop in the number of spectators is also an important element, the stands being gradually deserted. Karl-Josef Schmidt also added that the deadlines were very short and that the solution had to be found quickly. After the end of F1 at Magny-Cours, and undoubtedly at Silverstone, the future of another historic Grand Prix is at stake.
