This was the main topic of discussion this Thursday at Silverstone. Following an article published by Sky Sports Italia announcing an agreement between Max Verstappen et Toto wolff to join Mercedes In 2026, the Dutchman was mobbed by the press on site, looking for a reaction.
Unsurprisingly, Verstappen denied having reached any agreement with the Silver Arrows. There is no decision at the moment, did he declare, quoted by RACER. 2026 is not my concern. I'm simply focusing on what's ahead and working with the team. Of course, many people imagine things, but that's not me. Honestly, I have nothing to add to what I said last week. »
« They say the grass is always greener on the other side, right? I think you should always stay calm and enjoy what you do., he added in the mixed zone in comments relayed by Canal+. So far, I've had a lot of success. This season hasn't been what we'd like as a team, but these things happen. Sometimes you just have to accept it. A lot of people are looking to create stories, but that's not what interests me. »
Finally, Verstappen recalled that he remained the sole master of his future. There will always be rumors. People talk about the future, but ultimately, the only person who decides is me and the team. No matter what I read or see, it doesn't matter because I remain the master of my destiny. I'm happy, I feel good where I am, and that's the most important thing. »

Max Verstappen has insisted that he has not made any decisions regarding 2026. Should we imply that the future at Red Bull Racing is no longer set in stone, which is already news in itself?

It's good to react like that Max, your future is nobody's business, except your own!

Lately I find that things have been reversed at Red Bull, Max is calm and serene and doesn't accuse Antonelli and on the other hand Horner and Helmut get angry.

There's a big difference between "no decision has been made" and "I'm staying loyal to Red Bull" (which was his message a few months ago). This doesn't mean that his departure is a done deal, but that he's thinking about it, and that RBR isn't sure they'll keep him.
