Verstappen could have 'hurt someone' after missing pole in Mexico

Dominant during the three Mexican free sessions, Verstappen held the provisional pole in Q3 when the second Red Bull blew him the best time and incidentally deprived him of the record of youngest pole-sitter in history in the final moments of the session.

The Batavian made a head six feet long when he got out of the car and launched into a violent tirade against his engine Renault, for change. Since the Mexico race, won masterfully by Verstappen, his father Jos declared on Dutch TV that the joy of Ricciardo had only irritated his son even more on Saturday evening.

Trying to quell any controversy from the Interlagos paddock, the person ended up revealing how upset he was to miss out on pole two weeks earlier.

« I was especially annoyed by my engine problems during qualifying, confided Verstappen. That weekend, I was clearly the fastest, except for 75 seconds in Q3. I was honestly upset. And in those moments, the smallest thing makes you even more angry.

I shouldn't say it but I could have hurt someone if someone had said something wrong to me at that time, that's how annoyed I am. ».

Questioned on the same subject immediately, Ricciardo, who had to abandon the race, also defused the situation.

« I saw him making a face after qualifying and during the press conference, but I don't think it was directed at me., said the Australian. Anyone would be annoyed to come so close to their first career pole position.

“For my part, I was just super happy to take pole, especially after a season that was difficult and at the end of a session where I was not the favorite ».

Maybe we should warn Pierre Gasly not to celebrate his good results too much if he is ahead of his teammate Verstappen next year at Red Bull. Simple fisting.
