Verstappen: “It was all we could do”

Max Verstappen had to settle for 5th position at the end of qualifying for the Australian GP held on the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne. The pilot Red Bull was surpassed by Mercedes and Ferrari, while his teammate Daniel Ricciardo was unable to set a timed lap in Q3 after going off the track.

“The weekend has been quite complicated so far. I didn't ride as much as I wanted, said Max Verstappen. It was almost the first time during qualifying that I could do several laps without interruption. »

“My performance was not good enough, added Max Verstappen on Sky Sports F1. That was all we could do given the results of the winter tests. The balance of the car is complicated and the understeer and oversteer change a lot when you touch something. »

Red Bull still needs to do better

Max Verstappen believes that the Red Biull RB13 is homogeneous but that it still has too many weak points compared to the other top teams.

“The car is now well adjusted, but we still have time to gain. We don't just lack power. The car is efficient on straight lines but you lose grip in corners. I’m not disappointed because I saw us there during the first race”, added Max Verstappen.
