Verstappen: “It’s good that Hamilton is learning to take the rope at 37”

After the British Grand Prix, Max Verstappen couldn't help but react to the maneuver by Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton at Copse. The Dutchman stressed that despite his age (37), the Briton can “still learn to take the apex”.

Verstappen: “It’s good that Hamilton is learning to take the rope at 37”

Never stingy with declarations, Max Verstappen couldn't miss it. At Silverstone, Lewis Hamilton et Charles Leclerc had a great battle at Copse and both drivers managed to take the corner wheel to wheel. The Briton praised the Monegasque's driving after the race on Sunday and echoed the accident that occurred last year with the Dutchman. But the team member Red Bull didn't chicken out when asked about the two-pilot maneuver in Britain.

« I think it's good that you can still learn to take the rope point at 37 years old. He's learning, so that's positive. It's also a good example for young drivers to show that you can still progress at 37 years old. », quips Max Verstappen who seems not to have forgotten the Silverstone 2021 episode. Last year, the Batavian violently hit the tire wall (a 51G shock) after a collision with Lewis Hamilton at Copse. Or the same corner in which the Briton proved that two drivers can pass at the same time.

Max Verstappen still indulged in the game of comparisons without elaborating too much. “ You can clearly see in the pictures what was different from last year. I think Charles gave Hamilton less space than I gave him in 2021, so that says it all.", exposes the world champion.

On the sidelines of the Austrian Grand Prix, the world champion remains focused on the race after his disappointment in Great Britain. “ Ultimately, it was Lewis who was penalized last year, so there's no point talking about that either. […] His comments were a little sharp, but it will have no effect on my performance. I just need to focus on what we're doing here. I think we're doing pretty well this year. This is what I focus on “, explains Max Verstappen. In the lair of the Red Bull Ring, the Dutchman remains the main favorite to succeed him after winning both races in 2021.

What's the point of comparing, we're not talking about the same cars at all!!
