This was the 15th consecutive Grand Prix that Max Verstappen had not started from pole. The four-time world champion ended this streak by setting the fastest time in qualifying at Suzuka, taking pole position for the fourth consecutive year at the Japanese circuit. The Dutchman struck hard in the final moments of Q3, stealing first place from McLaren de Lando Norris et Oscar piastri, without even achieving a single best sector. Very happy with this return to the front of the starting grid, Verstappen did not hide his joy on the radio.

“We did our best to find the best possible balance with the car, said Max Verstappen after the session. It wasn't easy during these qualifying sessions, but I tried to improve the car on every part of the circuit. That's how we made the difference. I was at the limit on the last lap. It's an incredible reward."
Max Verstappen on the Suzuka circuit: “This circuit is amazing”
“This circuit is amazing, especially the first sector. We can push even harder with the new asphalt, but it’s also more difficult. It’s an important moment for us to get back on pole here, but we’ll see how it goes tomorrow in the race. There might be rain. We’ll do our best.”

An important moment that confirms the widespread idea that Red Bulls are developed solely for the four-time world champion who is the only one who can extract the quintessence from them despite his flaws thanks to his driving!
