Verstappen and Albon test the Aston Martin Valkyrie

Red Bull is still a partner ofAston Martin and intends to make it known. Its starting drivers for the 2020 season F1, Max Verstappen et Alexander albon, were able to test at Silverstone (Great Britain) the VP1 prototype of the Valkyrie, this hypercar powered by a 12l V6,5 hybrid engine developed jointly between the British manufacturer and the Austrian team.

“I was at Silverstone to witness the Valkyrie's first laps at last year's British GP, but it's obviously much better to be behind the wheel. It's quite exceptional to be one of the first to take control of it, commented the Dutchman with 8 victories in F1. It is still in the development phase, but we can already feel the speed which is... quite different from a normal car. The Aston Martin Valkyrie's downforce is incredible and it has a super aggressive look. »

“The first thing that struck me was its visual aspect, it is incredible. It really looks like a racing car., added the Thai. Max tested it before me and the impatience had time to build. There are still developments to be made, but it is already very good, especially in terms of balance between turns. In addition, it is light. We obviously lack downforce compared to an F1, but we still have enough to feel the G's in the corners and it is clearly closer to an F1 than to a touring car. »

Red Bull and Aston Martin also brought the VP2 and VP3 prototypes for the British brand's test drivers, Chris Goodwin, Darren Turner and Alex Lynn to take the wheel. The first deliveries of the 150 planned models will be delivered during 2020.
