Verstappen: “I don’t know what happened”

After carrying out promising tests at Silverstone, Max Verstappen was hopeful of securing a good place on the grid for the British GP. But the pilot Toro Rosso had to be content with 13th place between the Lotuses of Romain Grosjean and Pastor Maldonado after lacking speed in qualifying.

“I don’t know what happened in these qualifications because I had been very competitive so far. I had oversteer from the start of Q1 and the balance no longer satisfied me. I didn’t manage to set a good time.”, explained the rookie.

The Toro Rosso driver can only hope to gain positions in the race even if the feeling of disappointment predominates at the end of this qualifying session. « It's disappointing because I expected a lot from this session, but the car didn't react the way I wanted and I couldn't progress. I hope to catch up tomorrow because I had good speed on the long relays”, said the Dutchman.

Carlos Sainz Jr fared better than Max Verstappen since the second Toro Rosso driver qualified in 8th position.
