He had dominated the day on Friday on the Red Bull ring. Max Verstappen signed this afternoon, the sixth pole position of his career thanks to an exceptional first run.
The championship leader clearly has the upper hand over his rival, Lewis Hamilton for a few races. He is the only one to have gone below the 1.04.000 mark with a time of 1.03.841. The Dutchman was smiling again when speaking to the media.
“It was a great weekend, enthuses Verstappen. The car is super pleasant to drive on this circuit. The first run in Q3 was enough to take pole. I'm super happy to go home first. The trick isn't perfect but that's how it is. »
Fighting with Lewis Hamilton for victory until the penultimate lap in France, Max Verstappen believes that the battle between the two title contenders will be just as good and that winning again at home will not be easy.
“It will never be easy to win against Mercedes, confides Verstappen. I think we will have as good a battle as in France. Our race pace is similar to what we had last weekend, so it should be a good Sunday for us.”
