Verstappen forced to change engine after big scare

After the huge accident of Max Verstappen in Great Britain, Honda had carried out a whole series of tests to find out whether the Dutchman's engine could be used again or not. The Japanese engine manufacturer had given the green light but it seems that there was a hiccup in Hungary. After the qualifying session which Verstappen finished in third position, anomalies were spotted by Red Bull. Enough to change the championship leader's power unit.

“While we were carrying out post-qualifying checks, we noticed an anomaly on Max Verstappen's power unit, probably due to the Silverstone crash, explains the Red Bull team in a press release. We decided to change this engine for this afternoon's race. In accordance with the regulations, Max will start from third place without any penalty.

Max Verstappen therefore escapes a penalty since it is the third engine allocated in a season. But the Dutchman risks paying for this clash later with Lewis Hamilton at Silverstone.
