Max Verstappen's first day at the Australian Grand Prix was slightly complicated by minor damage to the floor and chassis.

Verstappen not 100% satisfied with his first day in Australia

And yes, there are days without too Max Verstappen. After having dominated head and shoulders the two previous weekends (Bahrain and Jeddah), the triple world champion was slightly in difficulty on the first day of the Australian Grand Prix. “Super Max” did not set the best lap on the track neither during FP1 nor during FP2.

A day like no other for the Dutchman who did not expect to encounter so many problems. During the first session, the pilot Red Bull came to put her car a little too suddenly on the curb, in the sequence of turns 11 and 12. Her RB20 was damaged, which caused her to miss 20 minutes of driving.

“Unfortunately, it's a bit complicated because of what happened in FP1. I went wide, I damaged the floor as well as the chassis. It took a little longer to resolve this issue, so I wasted about 20 minutes”, explained Max Verstappen in the mixed zone.

You are not dreaming, we are talking here about a driving error by the Red Bull driver. However, his error had no major impact, apart from these 20 minutes of lost driving time. “We worked as a team so I still more or less completed the program. On the long relay, I would have liked maybe a few more laps, but with 20 minutes missed, that's how it is...", continues the three-time world champion.

A look back?

When reading the first essays, the Ferrari seem to be in much better shape this weekend, with the best weather Charles Leclerc during EL2. Max Verstappen is keeping an eye on the Italians' times but remains quite calm about his chances of winning the race on Sunday: “I think Ferrari is fast, but from our side I think there are also some details we can fine-tune, nothing crazy or worrying.” 

If he wins the Australian Grand Prix, Verstappen would equal his record for the number of consecutive victories (10). The Lion has not yet finished roaring...
