Verstappen penalized after crash in Monaco

Max Verstappen will fall 5 places on the grid for the Canadian GP contested on June 7 after being held responsible for his collision with Romain Grosjean. The pilot Toro Rosso violently left the track at Sainte-Dévote after hitting the right rear wheel of the Lotus, while the two drivers were fighting for 10th place. This accident was the cause of the entry of the safety car which changed the race.

“I wasn't really trying anything because I had already braked in the same place the previous lap, but the car in front of me braked really early”, explained Max Verstappen in the Monaco GP paddock. “You can't do anything when the cars are so close. I tried to avoid him but he took me by surprise. »

Max Verstappen perhaps all the more disappointed as the rookie had shown himself to be very combative since he was able to finish in the top ten despite a first stop where he lost almost half a minute and a second passage through the pits . His teammate Carlos Sainz Jr took 10th place after being disqualified.
