Verstappen believes he has the best strategy at Spa

Max Verstappen shone in qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix by taking the front row of a starting grid for the first time in F1 at Spa-Francorchamps. The pilot Red Bull failed by only a tenth of the benchmark set by Nico Rosberg (Mercedes) and seems to have every chance of threatening the German in the race.

The Dutchman will still be the only driver at the front to start on super soft tires after choosing the red sidewall tires to set his best time in Q2, but the winner of the Spanish Grand Prix does not seem to be worry even if the high deterioration due to summer temperatures forces most teams to be cautious.

“We'll see where we are after a few rounds. We have a few strategies being considered. I decided with the team to take the super soft ones. We think this is the best strategy for tomorrow, we will see if it works”, commented Max Verstappen.

The Red Bull driver even had the hope of winning his first pole in F1, Nico Rosberg being in difficulty on the Belgian track.

“We always hope to do better, but Nico did the best lap possible, recognized the paddock cadet. The gaps were very close and we can be satisfied. The mechanics managed to repair the car well after the mechanical problems encountered during FP3. »

Daniel Ricciardo will start from fifth place on the soft tires after failing three tenths behind his teammate.
