Verstappen ready to change approach to title challenge

Rest assured, Max Verstappen does not plan to put on a grocer's costume when he is about to play the title for the first time in his career. 

But the pilot Red Bull, which is currently one point behind Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) in the Drivers' standings before the Portuguese Grand Prix (44-43), admits that he must not lose sight of the final objective.

« If it's not your day, well it's not your day and you have to know how to be satisfied with this or that result, he confided in Portimão. In the past, we have been able to have a car capable of winning a few races without being in the championship fight. In these cases, we can take a little more risk. 

When you play for the title, or at least when you perform well more often, your approach necessarily changes a little because you cannot afford to give up too many points, including on weekends when you are not at your best. ». 

If Hamilton continues to consider Red Bull as the reference in the field at the moment, his great rival believes that the gaps are very tight. 

« It’s complicated to see a trend emerging at the moment, added Verstappen. The season has only just started. There are still a few areas we would like to master better on the car (...) He, like me, must do everything to deliver a perfect performance if we want to win. ». 

Let's hope that the tightrope walker Orange doesn't curb his nature as a born attacker too much as the stakes rise. To be honest, we don't worry too much about this.
