Verstappen extends at Red Bull until 2023

While we predicted a transfer market F1 Very exciting before the 2021 regulatory Big Bang, the big announcements are coming this winter. After Charles Leclerc, extended at Ferrari until 2024, it's his rival's turn Max Verstappen to lift the veil on its future. And this will continue to take shape on the side of Milton Keynes since the Flying Dutchman will defend the Red Bull colors until at least 2023.

Verstappen's previous contract expired at the end of 2020 and it was thought that the Dutchman would be one of the centerpieces of the transfer window this season. It won't happen. It's a nice move for Red Bull, which has secured the services of one of the big names on the grid.

Landed in F1 at Toro Rosso in 2015 at just 17 years old, Verstappen benefited from express promotion within the parent company after 4 Grands Prix in 2016. His debut in Milton Keynes was historic because it was marked by a record victory in Spain.

Since then, the former enfant terrible of the field has added 7 others, including 3 last year for the first joint campaign with the engine manufacturer Honda, also the first where Verstappen took on the mantle of leader after the departure of Daniel Ricciardo in Renault.

Sharp and incisive, the young man corresponds perfectly to the Red Bull spirit, which must now provide him with the necessary equipment to compete for the title. Its contract renewal also indicates that the Austrian energy drink giant is committed to the Grand Prix scene for the long term.

« Red Bull always believed in me and gave me the opportunity to get to F1, commented Verstappen. I love working with the whole team and the progress made with Honda last year gives me extra motivation. I am convinced that we have the means to win the championship together ».

The extensions of Leclerc and Verstappen suggest a transfer season that is ultimately quite calm even if several big names theoretically remain on the market, including Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari), or even Daniel Ricciardo (Renault).
