Max Verstappen (Red Bull) is a born competitor. His third time during qualifying for the Miami Grand Prix (Florida) this Saturday, May 7 should therefore rather cause frustration in him, given thein pole position from his rival for the title, Charles Leclerc (Ferrari).
However, the Dutchman showed a (slight) smile when getting off his car. Like, everything happens. “Overall, I'm pretty happy with this result. Yesterday (Friday), I only managed to complete four or five laps (due to a mechanical problem. Ed.) ! Today, I still had to get the circuit into my head and know it by heart. I also had to find a good balance on the car.
The wearer of number 1 did not expect to get involved in the fight for pole, even if his last attempt ended in heat in the first sector:

“To be so competitive in qualifying is surprising. This is not an easy route to memorize. Obviously you always want to be on pole, but I think we did a good job. We have a great opportunity for the race. Our top speed is good, the car handles well, I'm looking forward to it. »
Overtaking opportunities could be rare in the race, given the poor state of the Florida asphalt. “Apart from the normal trajectory, the track is quite dirty. A lot could happen during the event, but it will also depend on how the tires react. It seems that temperatures will increase…”
