Verstappen: “A few races before I’m comfortable”

All eyes were logically on the #12 RB33 yesterday during the first laps in the streets of Monaco. The latest winner, Max Verstappen, was the center of much attention, after his resounding Catalan exploit.

The Dutchman, however, made a point of reminding at a press conference that he was only beginning a learning phase with his new mount, which does not have the new Power Unit. Renault, entrusted to the clan Red Bull à Daniel Ricciardo.

“In testing after the Spanish Grand Prix, I still learned very important things about the car, how to set it up best for me, especially regarding qualifying, specifies the son of Jos Verstappen. But this is all a normal process and it is only starting to get better. Even here in Monaco, I will still learn and It will take a few runs before I'm completely comfortable with all systems. »

An adaptation which however seems to continue with great strides, since the former resident of the European Championship of F3 took 5th and 4th places in the two sessions held on Thursday in the Principality.

“It looks like we're not too bad, so I think it's a good start to the weekend, admits the young prodigy of F1. We are almost there in terms of settings and I will look at the data to further improve my car. But the most important thing is to stay away from the rails and gain confidence. The feeling is more there, we build it turn by turn. »
