Verstappen delighted with his tests: “It’s very slippery but it’s the same for everyone”

Was it possible to do better Max Verstappen et Red Bull this Friday, November 13 in Istanbul (Türkiye)? The Dutchman twice set the best time in free practice, in perilous and slippery conditions.

“I think overall it was a pretty positive day and the car is working well, so I'm happy with that. I think the preparation we did before arriving here was good, but of course we adapted well to the track conditions. »

Max Verstappen shows up, once is not customary, much more civilized than his colleague Lewis Hamilton when it comes to expressing an opinion on resurfacing and cleaning Turkish tarmac. “It's very slippery, but at the end of the day it's the same for everyone, so we have to adapt to it, but I think we're all still five seconds away from where we should be on this track.

I hope it doesn't rain, because then we might need studded tires! I don't think softer tires would have made a difference, we went faster going from hard to soft, but it's just the grip on the tarmac that can explain it going from FP1 to EL2. »

Challenger n°1 for the win on Turkish soil, Max Verstappen however expects to see the return of the Black Arrows tomorrow in qualifying. " Of course, Mercedes is going to improve tomorrow, so I just hope we can have a calm qualifying and in the race we will see what happens. »
